Daily Dose of the Dub: Silvertips and Raiders make blockbuster trade, Myskiw practicing with OHL club and more

Silvertips acquire Fonstad from Prince Albert

In the first blockbuster trade of the season, the Everett Silvertips have acquired 2000-born forward Cole Fonstad from the Prince Albert Raiders in exchange for 2001-born Reece Vitelli, a second and fourth-round pick in the 2021 WHL Bantam Draft and a conditional third-round pick in the 2022 WHL Bantam Draft. The condition on the pick has to do with whether or not Vitelli plays in his overage season.

Fonstad is a fifth-round pick of the Montreal Canadiens who is coming off a season in which his Raiders won the WHL Championship. He’s been a point-per-game player this season with two goals and seven assists with Prince Albert. He’s expected to join the Silvertips on Wednesday when they battle the Brandon Wheat Kings. Vitelli has posted three assists in eight games with the Silvertips this year. Fonstad and Vitelli will battle each other next Saturday when the Raiders head to Everett in what will be Vitelli’s first game with his new team.

The 1999-born netminder has not yet signed with the Knights but it’s something to watch in the next little while. He only played one game with the Oil Kings this season before being released, posting a 2.00 GAA and .931 save percentage.
