Daily Dose of the DUB: Savoie heads south, USA wins Gold, and more

Savoie heads south

17-year-old Matthew Savoie (22GP, 0G, 7A with Winnipeg ICE) has been added to the USHL’s Dubuque Fighting Saints roster. This follows a stint with the Sherwood Park Crusaders where Savoie had three goals and three assists in four games before the temporary shut down of the AJHL. Savoie is eligible for the 2022 NHL draft and was the first overall selection of the Kootenay Ice in 2019. He was denied exceptional status prior to the 2019 WHL Bantam Draft

USA bests Canada to take gold

It was a nearly perfect game by the Americans as they took the gold medal at the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championships. Canada was unable to defend the championship they took home last year. Team USA had one player from the WHL (Dustin Wolf) and Team Canada had 12 representatives win the silver medal. The teams will line up in the same groups in 2022, with that tournament being held in Edmonton and Red Deer.
