Gardiner retires
The @Kelowna_Rockets have announced Erik Gardiner has decided to retire for health and personal reasons. GM Bruce Hamilton says, ‘He supports Erik 100%’. A great shot blocker, the 19 year-old, from my accounts, was an excellent teammate. Wish him the best.

Kelowna Rockets assistant captain Erik Gardiner has retired for health and personal reasons, including a puck to the head while trying to block a shot last season that resulted in a serious injury. The 19-year-old was originally acquired in a 2016 trade with Regina that involved Jonathan Smart going the other way. The native of Humboldt, Saskatchewan is a veteran of 114 WHL games between Regina and Kelowna, collecting 51 points along the way. For more insight from DUBNetwork.ca, click right here.
