Rockets team activities suspended for a minimum of 14 days

Due to six more positive tests among the Kelowna Rockets cohort, the WHL has suspended all team activities for a minimum of 14 days. The WHL needed to postpone a total of nine games involving the Rockets as well as last night’s Vancouver Giants and Prince George Cougars game in Kamloops. More can be found HERE.

Goaltender Nolan Maier (146GP, 86-46-12, 2.94GAA, .902sv%) has recorded his 86th win as a member of the Saskatoon Blades. He is now the franchise leader in wins surpassing Tim Cheveldae. The win also gives Maier a 7-0-0 record this season along with a 2.00 goals-against average and .917 save percentage. Maier is a former second-round draft pick of the Blades at the 2016 WHL Draft.
Comrie commits to MacEwan Griffins for 2021-22 season

Defenseman Sean Comrie (37GP, 3G, 14A with Kelowna) has committed to the Grant MacEwen University Griffins for the 2021-22 season. Comrie has played two games with the Rockets this season and has yet to register a point. Comrie was a 2015 WHL Draft pick of the Brandon Wheat Kings. On May 2nd, 2019 his rights were dealt along with the 10th overall pick at the 2019 WHL Draft to the Rockets for the fifth overall pick at the same draft. On May 14, 2019, Comrie signed with the Rockets.

Forward Jaroslav Vlach (124GP, 12G, 16A with Prince George ’09-’11) has signed a contract extension with Bili Tygri Liberec of the Czech league. Vlach has only played for his youth league team, Bili Tygri Liberec in his Czech league professional career. He has 44 goals and 52 assists in 350 games. He has also been loaned to HC Benatky nad Jizerou of the Czech2 league every season since 2011-12.

Defenseman Dmitri Osipov (270GP, 8G, 33A with Vancouver and Brandon ’13-’17) has been reassigned by the Rockford IceHogs to the Indy Fuel. With Rockford, Osipov has one assist in 11 games. He has played just two games with Indy this season. Osipov was the first overall selection at the 2013 CHL Import Draft by the Vancouver Giants.

Defenseman Dylan MacPherson (181GP, 6G, 37A with Medicine Hat ’15-’19) has been returned to the Wheeling Nailers from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. MacPherson has played six AHL games, registering one assist. In the ECHL this season he has played 10 games and has two assists. MacPherson was not drafted into the WHL or the NHL.

Defenseman Cale Ashcroft has committed to the University of Denver Pioneers for the 2021-22 season. Ashcroft is a fourth-round 2019 WHL Draft pick of the Saskatoon Blades. This season with the Sherwood Park Crusaders of the AJHL, Ashcroft has one goal and six assists in eight games.
