The Ed Chynoweth Cup will be in the Langley Events Centre on Friday night as the Prince Albert Raiders will have an opportunity to wrap up the WHL Championship Series following a 1-0 shutout victory over the Vancouver Giants on Wednesday night. Goaltender Ian Scott was the star of this game for the Raiders with a 36-save shutout. Defenseman Max Martin missed his second consecutive game after suffering an undisclosed injury in Game 2 in Prince Albert. The last time a WHL Championship Series game finished 1-0 was last year when Stuart Skinner and the Swift Current Broncos beat the host Everett Silvertips to take a 3-1 series lead. The Silvertips rebounded in Game 5 with a 6-3 win but the Broncos ended up winning the series in Game 6. Are we headed for a repeat this year?

Giants alumni Benson scores first pro playoff goal
That was Benson’s first goal of the #AHL playoffs in Game 3 of the second round. What a big one for the Edmonton-born #Oilers prospect.

Although it wasn’t a great night for his former Giants, Vancouver Giants alumni Tyler Benson (190 GP, 61 G 123 A) had a huge personal night scoring his first career pro playoff goal with 10 seconds left in the third period to send his Bakersfield Condors into overtime against the San Diego Gulls. The Condors would pull off the 7-6 overtime win and now trail in the series 2-1.
