The Prince Albert Raiders have signed goaltender Carter Serhyenko to a WHL Player Agreement. Serhyenko is an unsigned 2002-born Saskatoon native who attended Raiders camp on an invite from the team. He impressed the club enough to earn a contract and a chance to battle for the Raiders net with last year’s starter Ian Scott not likely to return to the Raiders. Last season in the SJHL, the six-foot-four, 193-pound goalie posted a 3.72 GAA and .900 save percentage with the Battlefords Stars.

The San Jose Sharks have made six cuts to their training camp roster. As noted in yesterday’s Daily Dose of the Dub, Jake Lee has officially been returned to the Kelowna Rockets. Portland Winterhawks forward Jake Gricius, who had been at camp on an invite, was also among the cuts.

Jiri Patera will be returning to the Brandon Wheat Kings for his final season of junior hockey eligibility after being returned to the team from the Vegas Golden Knights. The Czech Republic native was the Golden Knights sixth-round pick in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.

Seattle Thunderbirds goaltender Roddy Ross has been returned to the team from Philadelphia Flyers Training Camp. The Flyers selected Ross in the sixth round of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. Last season he split the season between the Thunderbirds and the Camrose Kodiaks of the AJHL, playing 47 games.

1999-born defenseman Jackson Caller made his preseason debut on Friday night in his return from injury for the Kamloops Blazers and was held off the scoresheet. The Kamloops native is one of three overage players set to be in the Blazers lineup on opening night.

The Philadelphia Flyers have signed defenseman Ivan Provorov (122 GP, 36 G, 98 A with the Brandon Wheat Kings) to a six-year contract extension. Last season with the Flyers, Provorov recorded seven goals and 19 assists in 82 games.

Winnipeg Jets defenseman and former Brandon Wheat Kings and Prince George Cougars defenseman Dustin Byfuglien has been granted a leave of absence from the NHL club. The good news is the absence is not “sinister in nature” according to head coach Paul Maurice but there is no timetable for his return.
