Pats sign Welke 

The Regina Pats have added another goaltender to the fold signing 17-year-old Spencer Welke to a WHL Education Contract. A listed prospect of the Pats, Welke has been playing this year for the SMHL’s Prince Albert Mintos. In 10 games, he has a 5-3-0 record with a 2.15 GAA and .930 save percentage.

Elliott signs with Blades

The Saskatoon Blades also made a goalie move on Thursday signing 2004-born netminder Austin Elliott to a WHL Education Contract. The 2019 12th round bantam draft pick is playing this year for the Notre Dame Hounds Elite 15s in the CSSHL E15 division. In two games, he has posted a 3.53 GAA and .870 GAA.

Hamaliuk signs with Sharks 

According to CapFriendly, Kelowna Rockets forward Dillon Hamaliuk has signed his entry-level contract with the San Jose Sharks, who drafted him in the second round of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. Hamaliuk is off to a great start with with 10 points in 12 games. His five goals have him tied for second on the team behind Nolan Foote‘s seven.

Myskiw reportedly signs with Sting

According to a report from Josh Boyce from Blackburn News, the Sarnia Sting have claimed 1999-born goaltender Dylan Myskiw (85 GP with the Victoria Royals, Brandon Wheat Kings, and Edmonton Oil Kings) off waivers from the Edmonton Oil Kings. It should be noted the team hasn’t made this official but it has been speculated on for some time now.

WHL hands out close to 400 scholarships for fall semester 

The WHL has handed out 391 scholarships for the 2019 fall semester totalling over 2.8 million dollars, topping the record 386 scholarships handed out last year. This is the 11th consecutive year the league has seen an upward trend in players making use of the WHL scholarship program.

Alberta now 2-0 at WHL Cup

Hockey Alberta has picked up their second win of the WHL Cup with a 3-2 victory for Saskatchewan Hockey. Billal Noori (Calgary Hitmen) was once again the stats leader for the Albertans with one goal and one assist.

BC Hockey also moves to 2-0 at WHL Cup 

The Defending Champion BC Hockey have also moved to 2-0 after a 5-2 victory over Hockey Manitoba on Thursday. Brayden Schuurman (Victoria Royals) was once again the star with two goals
