Matthew Kieper has been returned to the Winnipeg Bruins of the MMHL by the Regina Pats. In one game this year, he posted a 10.24 GAA and .615 save percentage.

Browne out for Cougars

Ethan Browne was held out vs. Kelowna due to injury. He joins Nikita Krivokrasov on the injured list for the Prince George Cougars.

Wheat Kings & Giants clinch playoff berths

The Brandon Wheat Kings clinched a playoff berth on Wednesday with a 9-1 shellacking of the Swift Current Broncos.

Thanks to the Prince George Cougars falling in regulation to the Kelowna Rockets, the Vancouver Giants are headed back to the playoffs for the third consecutive season.

Christiansen breaks Silvertips record

Recording a hat-trick on Wednesday, Jake Christiansen has reached 20 goals on the season to take the lead for most goals by an Everett Silvertips defenseman in a season. Oh, and it only took him 32 games to do it.

In the weekly CHL rankings, the Portland Winterhawks have fallen to fourth, Edmonton has held on to the fifth spot, Everett has risen to sixth and Lethbridge has earned honourable mention.

NHL legend to attend Blades game

NHL legend David Ayres will be in attendance for the Saskatoon Blades “WHL Suits up to Promote Organ Donation” game on March 6th against the Regina Pats. The one-time Carolina Hurricanes netminder is himself a recipient of a kidney transplant.

Toporowski to make head-coaching debut

Jake Toporowski (100 GP, 10 A with the Spokane Chiefs from 2014-18) will be the head coach behind with the Quad City Storm on Friday to make his head-coaching debut.

Canada West hands out year-end awards

Taran Kozun (135 GP, 2.73 GAA, 0.912 Save Percentage with the Kamloops Blazers and Seattle Thunderbirds from 2011-15) has been named the Canada West Goaltender and Player of the Year.

Adam Henry (239 GP, 27 G, 88 A with the Lethbridge Hurricanes, Seattle Thunderbirds, Saskatoon Blades, and Portland Winterhawks from 2011-15) has been named Canada West’s Top Defenseman and been awarded the Student-Athlete Community Service award.

Jared Dmytriw (315 GP, 59 G, 55 A with the Victoria Royals, Red Deer Rebels and Vancouver Giants from 2014-19) has been named the Canada West Rookie of the Year.

Todd Johnson (205 GP, 76 G, 123 A with the Moose Jaw Warriors, Kamloops Blazers and Red Deer Rebels from 1990-93) has been named the Canada West Coach of the year. Johnson also served as an assistant coach with the Kootenay ICE from 2010-12.

Levi Cable (267 GP, 55 G, 62 A with the Kootenay ICE from 2010-15) won the Canada West Sportsmanship and Ability award.
