Daily Dose of the Dub: Pats acquire Delorme, Silvertips make change to coaching staff, Oil Kings sign Seppala

Pats acquire Delorme from Winterhawks

The Regina Pats have acquired 2000-born forward Haydyn Delorme from the Portland Winterhawks for a conditional draft pick in the 2021 WHL Bantam Draft. Originally drafted by the Vancouver Giants in the ninth round of the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft, Delorme made his WHL debut last season with the Winterhawks, getting into 31 games with one goal and three assists.

Oil Kings sign Seppala 

The Edmonton Oil Kings have signed 2019 CHL Import Draft Pick Jesse Seppälä to a WHL Player Agreement. A 2002-born forward from Espoo Finland, Seppälä played last season in the Jr. B SM-sarja for Tappara U18 registering 17 goals and 31 assists in 42 games. The Oil Kings only have Vladimir Alistrov as an import for next season after they released Andrei Pavlenko earlier this summer so Seppälä will be eligible to suit up for the Oil Kings in 2019-20.

Silvertips make a change to the coaching staff

The Everett Silvertips have made a change to their coaching staff as Harry Mahood (202 GP, 102 G, 136 A with the Great Falls Americans, Spokane Flyers, Billings Bighorns, and Nanaimo Islanders) has resigned his position with the team to move to New York with his wife after one season with the organization.

The Silvertips did not wait long to fill Mahood’s position as shortly after that announcement, they announced that Mike Lysyj has joined the organization as an assistant coach. Lysyj comes to the Silvertips from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute where he had spent last season as a volunteer assistant coach. His coaching resume also includes four seasons with the State University of New York at Fredonia Blue Devils.

Chiefs lose Assistant General Manager 

The summer of changes in the Spokane Chiefs organization continues as Assistant General Manager of Hockey Operations Chris Moulton has accepted a position with Wasserman as the Western Canada Player Recruitment and Development Advisor. Moulton joined the Chiefs in 2005 as Director of Player Personnel in 2005 after spending the previous 11 seasons as a scout with the Calgary Hitmen.

WHL Prospects impress on Day Two of Hockey Canada U-17 Development Camp 

After a slow start to the Development Camp on Wednesday, WHL prospects stepped up their game on Day two of Hockey Canada’s U-17 Development Camp with Nolan Bentham (Victoria Royals), Sean Tschigerl (Calgary Hitmen), Logan Stankoven (Kamloops Blazers), Kyle Masters (Red Deer Rebels), Conner Roulette (Seattle Thunderbirds), Dylan Guenther (Edmonton Oil Kings), all registering goals.

Czech Republic announces Hlinka Gretzky Cup Roster 

The Czech Republic has named its roster for the 2019 Hlinka Gretzky Cup set to take place in August and Michal Gut (Everett Silvertips) and Pavel Novak (Kelowna Rockets) are among those to make the team this year.

Burnstein gets asked back to Hockey Canada staff

Vancouver Giants Athletic Therapist Mike Burnstein will join Hockey Canada’s Staff for the 2020 World Junior Hockey Championship in the Czech Republic. Burnstein had been with the NHL’s Vancouver Canucks for 20 seasons before joining the Giants three years ago and will be making his second consecutive appearance at the World Juniors.
