2003-born forward Turner McMillen was called up by the Kelowna Rockets today. He has 33 points in 38 games so far this season with the Prince Albert Mintos of the SMHL. McMillen was a ninth round pick by the Rockets back in 2018. He could very well draw into the lineup with Liam Kindree, Michael Farren and Nolan Foote all listed on the weekly report with injuries and McMillen being one of 13 healthy forwards on the current roster. The Rockets next play on Friday at home to Spokane.
McMillen’s father, David played 188 games over four seasons in the WHL from 1988-93. While playing two seasons with the then Tacoma Rockets, he racked up 474 penalty minutes.
Puutio in non-contact jersey
One thing of note: Tips defenseman Kasper Puutio wasn’t practicing, showed up later in red non-contact jersey. Have to wonder if he’ll be ready for Portland tomorrow. #WHL https://t.co/jcke9obJ1Q

-Finnish defenseman Kasper Puutio was in a red no-contact jersey and thus his ability to play in Friday night’s big tile with the Portland Winterhawks has to come into question. Puutio, who was acquired from the Swift Current Broncos in a deadline deal move, has played in five games with the Silvertips.
