Oil Kings, Rebels release Training Camp schedule

Edmonton Oil Kings training camp will start next Wednesday and will be a five-day affair with camp ending on September 1st with the annual Red vs. White game. The Oil Kings promise a list of participants will be released closer to the opening of camp, so stay tuned for that.

The Red Deer Rebels will hit the ice on Saturday to kick off their training camp ahead of the 2019-20 season. The Rebels will hold a longer training camp than most teams, with camp concluding on August 31st with the annual Black vs. White game.

Tigers sign Brinkman 

The Medicine Hat Tigers have announced the signing of 2019 CHL Import Draft Pick Jonathan Brinkman. The 18-year-old Danish forward played 47 games in various leagues in Denmark last season and recorded nine goals and 21 assists. As our Glen Erickson found out, the Tigers are very excited about what Brinkman brings to the table and you can read about that here.

Fasko-Rudas missing from Silvertips training camp 

Josh Horton of the Herald Newspaper in Everett reports that Martin Fasko-Rudas will miss the duration of Silvertips training camp and won’t be available until late September due to off-season surgery. Last year with Everett he had 15 goals and 16 assists in 60 games and barring any further health complications should at least match those totals this year.

Robison takes issue with the “semi-pro” distinction of Raiders 

In an interview with Prince Albert Now, WHL Commissioner Ron Robison says he thinks federal Minister of Infrastructure and Communities Francois-Phillipe Champagne classified the Prince Albert Raiders as a “semi-pro sporting franchise” making them ineligible for federal funding as they look to build a new arena in the city.

Giants partnering with Canucks for Teddy Bear Toss

The Vancouver Giants are partnering with the Vancouver Canucks to host the annual Teddy Bear Toss game at Rogers Arena, the home of the Canucks, this season. The game will take place on December 8th at 4 P.M. when the Tri-City Americans come to town. Our Stephen Hawco has all the details here.

Sharks release rookie camp rosters

The San Jose Sharks have released the roster for their Rookie Camp which kicks off on September 7th and there are a number of players with WHL ties on the roster including  Joachim Blichfeld (Portland), Noah Gregor (Prince Albert), Jake Gricius (Portland), Dillon Hamaliuk (Kelowna), Tristan Langan (Moose Jaw) Jacob McGrew (Spokane) Jake Lee (Kelowna) and Zachary Sawchenko (Moose Jaw).

Avalanche rookie camp roster released

The Colorado Avalanche have released the roster for their rookie camp and it includes WHL players like Logan Barlage (Lethbridge Hurricanes), Luka Burzan (Brandon Wheat Kings), Nick Henry (Lethbridge Hurricanes), Bryce Kindopp (Everett Silvertips) Sasha Mutala (Tri-CIty Americans) Bowen Byram (Vancouver Giants), Kevin Davis (Everett Silvertips) and Trent Miner (Vancouver Giants).

Vegas rookie camp roster comes out

The Vegas Golden Knights have released their rookie camp roster which includes Cody Glass (Portland), Marcus Kallionkieli (Brandon), Jake Leschyshyn (Lethbridge), Jermaine Loewen (Kamloops), Dylan Coghlan (Tri-City), Kaedan Korczak (Kelowna), Brayden Pachal (Prince Albert), Dylan Ferguson (Kamloops), and Jiri Patera (Brandon Wheat Kings).

Los Angeles Kings rookie camp roster announced

The Los Angeles Kings have announced their Rookie Camp roster which includes Jaret-Anderson Dolan (Spokane) Brad Morrison (Lethbridge), Austin Strand (Seattle) Lukas Parik (Spokane)

Grewal signs with Manchester Storm 

The Machester Storm have signed defenseman Raymond Grewal (145 GP, 1 G, 18 A with the Prince George Cougars and Prince Albert Raiders) for the 2019-20 season. After a four-year stint at the University of British Columbia, Grewal becomes the first Punjabi player to suit up in the EIHL.

Tigers mourn passing of Larry Plante 

The Medicine Hat Tigers are mourning the passing of Larry Plante who had been a part of the CHAT Radio on-air team that broadcast Tigers Hockey for 25 years. On behalf of everyone at DubNetwork, we’d like to send our condolences to Plante’s family and friends.
