Daily Dose of the Dub: Novak signs with Rockets, Blades and Cougars release training camp roster

Rockets sign 2019 first-round import pick 

The Kelowna Rockets have signed Pavel Novak to a WHL Player Agreement. The 2002-born Czech Republic native played 51 games in his home country last season recording 29 goals and 19 assists. He built on that with an impressive showing at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup where he had two goals and one assist in four games.

Blades, Cougars announce training camp roster

The Saskatoon Blades have released their training camp roster and some things worth noting include:

  • Overage goalie Dorrin Luding is not attending camp for the Blades
  • 2001-born Kirby Dach is not listed on the roster. It remains to be seen if the Blackhawks will send him back to Saskatoon this year
  • 2019 draft pick Pavel Bocharov is not listed as attending camp
  • 2018 draft pick Garin Scherr is also missing from the roster along with Brodie Guenther 
  • Ty Ettinger (Vancouver Giants) is at camp on an invite

Meanwhile, the Prince George Cougars also released the roster of players set to participate in intrasquad action. Some things of note:

  • 2000-borns Liam Ryan and Max Kryski are not on the roster
  • 2018 second-round pick Hunter Thornton, 2018 third-round pick Ty Mueller, 2018 fifth-round pick Aidan Hreschuk, 2018 fifth-round pick Mike Svenson and 2018 sixth-round pick Kent Anderson are all missing from the training camp roster.
