Blazers hand out team awards

The Kamloops Blazers handed out their team awards on Friday morning:

  • Orrin Centazzo was named the Most Improved Player.
  • Max Martin took home the Top Defenseman Award
  • Caedan Bankier is the Diamond in the Rough.
  • Logan Stankoven was named Most Dedicated and Rookie of the Year.
  • Montana Onyebuchi was recognized for his involvement in the community. He was also named co-winner of the grinder of the year.
  •  Brodi Stuart was named co-winner of the grinder of the year and the unsung hero award.
  • Dylan Garand was recognized for excellence in Hockey/Education. He was also named CO-MVP
  • Ryan Hughes was also named co-winner of the unsung hero award.
  • Connor Zary won the Top Prospects Award.
  • Zane Franklin was recognized for his extreme leadership and ability. He also took home the +/- award, 3 Stars Award, and Top Scorer. He was also named Co-MVP.

Wheat Kings hold the end of the year awards ceremony 

The Brandon Wheat Kings announced their team awards winners on Friday evening.

  • Jiri Patera was named MVP, Top Graduating Player, 3 Stars Award Winner and Fan’s Choice Award.
  • Luka Burzan was named the top scorer.
  • Jake Chiasson was named the Rookie of the Year.
  • Ben McCartney was named Top Manitoban.
  • Ridly Greig was deemed Most Improved Player.
  • Marcus Sekundiak is the Most Inspirational Player.
  • Dom Schmiemann took home the Unsung Hero Award.
  • Connor Gutenberg and Lynden McCallum were recognized for being Community-Minded.

Cougars hand out two awards

The Prince George Cougars handed out two awards on Friday naming Jack Sander the player who best represents the Cougars on and off the ice and Taylor Gauthier Team MVP.

Bast signs with Mannheim

Jason Bast (337 GP, 114 G, 140 A with the Moose Jaw Warriors from 2005-10) has signed a one-year contract with Adler Mannheim in Germany. He played 46 games for Kolner Haie this year scoring eight goals and nine assists.

Machacek signs extension in Germany 

Spencer Machacek (203 GP, 77 G, 91 A with the Vancouver Giants from 2005-08) has signed a one year- contract extension with Grizzlys Wolfsburg. The former third-round pick of the Atlanta Thrashers tallied 15 goals and 17 assists in 52 games this season.

Williams signs extension in Germany

Jeremy Williams (174 GP, 99 G, 108 A with the Swift Current Broncos from 2000-04) has signed a one-year contract extension with the Straubing Tigers in Germany. The former seventh-round pick of the Toronto Maple Leafs had 20 goals and 17 assists to lead the Tigers in goals and finishing second in points.
