Kubicek records assist, Parik makes 19 saves in Czech Republic loss

In World Junior pre-tournament action, Seattle Thunderbirds defenseman Simon Kubicek notched an assist while Spokane Chiefs goalie Lukas Parik made 19 saves on 24 shots as the Czech Republic fell 5-1 to Sweden. Parik’s effort also earned him player of the game honours for the Czech Republic.

Nikolishin traded in Russia

Ivan Nikolishin (216 GP, 65 G, 138 A with the Everett Silvertips and Red Deer Rebels) has been traded to Neftyanik Almetievsk in Russia for cash. In 17 games split between Severstal Cherepovets and Molot-Prikamie Perm, Nikolishin has recorded two goals and four assists.

Pearce signs with Belfast

Elgin Pearce (254 GP, 65 G, 83 A with the Kootenay ICE and Medicine Hat Tigers from 2009-13) has signed with the Belfast Giants in Ireland for the rest of the season. Pearce was released by the Dundee Stars on Monday after tallying nine goals and nine assists in 25 games.

Lukacevic signs in Germany

Ned Lukacevic (238 GP, 63 G, 74 A with the Spokane Chiefs and Swift Current Broncos from 2001-06) has signed a four-game try-out with the German club Rostock Pirhanas. The former fourth-round pick of the Los Angeles Kings has already played one game with Rostock and was held scoreless.

Barker signs in France

Cam Barker (214 GP, 51 G, 128 A with the Medicine Hat Tigers from 2001-06) has signed with French club Rouen for the rest of the season. A season-ending suffered in November of 2018 limited him to just seven games with Ilves last season.
