Daily Dose of the Dub: Jacob Boucher done for year, Anderson-Dolan, Kelley off to AHL and more

Boucher suffers a season-ending injury

The Lethbridge Hurricanes announced Jacob Boucher has been shut down for the season due to an upper-body injury suffered last weekend against the Medicine Hat Tigers. He is scheduled to undergo surgery on Thursday and will return home to St. Albert for rehabilitation. The 2017 ninth-round pick played in both games last weekend and scored one goal.

The Hurricanes also announced they’ve released 2001- born Adam Hall from the active roster. He suited up for one game this year and was held off the scoresheet. It’s unclear what’s next in Adam’s hockey career whose twin brother Justin remains with Lethbridge.

Anderson-Dolan off to Ontario

To no-one’s surprise, the Los Angeles Kings have confirmed Jaret Anderson-Dolan won’t be returning to the Spokane Chiefs to start the year. It is a bit surprising though that he won’t be sticking with the Kings as he was assigned to the Ontario Reign of the AHL. Of course, Ontario, California is only a 45-minute drive from Los Angeles, so he could be called up at a moment’s notice.

Kelly to Belleville

We neglected to mention this yesterday but another player unlikely to return to the WHL, Parker Kelly has been assigned to the Belleville Senators of the AHL.

Savoie returned to Rink Hockey Academy

2019 first-overall pick Matthew Savoie has been returned to RINK Hockey Academy after being held without a point in his first two WHL games. In his debut for RINK, Savoie notched three goals and five assists. Yes, those are totals from just one game which his team won 11-1.

Malm and Brook return from injury

James Malm returned to the lineup tonight for the Calgary Hitmen and hit the ground running with a goal and two assists, including one on the game-winning goal from Carson Focht as the Hitmen, beat the Edmonton Oil Kings 4-3 in overtime.

Jakob Brook made his season debut on Friday night, returning from an injury suffered at Hockey Canada’s U18 Hlinka Gretzky Cup selection camp in July. He didn’t wait long to hit the scoresheet, assisting on Prince Albert’s second goal tonight against the Regina Pats.

Milestones around the WHL

Congratulations go out to Moose Jaw Warriors forward Eric Alarie, Portland Winterhawks forward Tyson Kozak (two goals), Victoria Royals forward Keanu DeRungs, Winnipeg ICE forward Nino Kinder (hat-trick) and Prince Albert Raiders forwards Cole Nagy and Evan Herman who all notched their first goals on Friday night. Meanwhile, Kamloops Blazers captain Zane Franklin tallied his 50th career goal and Prince George Cougars defenseman Ryan Schoettler played in his 200th career game.
