The Calgary Hitmen signed a pair of prospects on Sunday, the first of which was ’04-born goaltender Ethan Buenaventura. The Hitmen selected Buenaventura in the fourth round of the 2019 WHL Bantam Draft after he posted a 2.48 GAA and .925 Save Percentage in 14 games with the Rink Hockey Academy in the CSSHL. Travis Toomey (269 GP, 63 G, 58 A with the Saskatoon Blades and Seattle Thunderbirds) will get to skate on an NHL ice surface this season, but it will be as a linesman and not a player. After graduating from the University of Alberta Golden Bears, Toomey decided to pursue a career in officiating. He has been a linesman in various leagues since his first game in 2017, including the WHL.
