Hurricanes sign Kovacs

The Lethbridge Hurricanes have signed undrafted prospect Easton Kovacs to a WHL Education Contract. The Hurricanes listed Kovacs following last year’s bantam draft and attended the team’s rookie camp. The blueliner suited for Delta Hockey Academy’s Elite 15s team scoring four goals and adding 12 assists in 34 games.

WHL names Most Sportsmanlike Players of the Year

The WHL announced the Sportsmanlike Player of the year in the Eastern and Western Conference. In the east, Prince Albert Raiders forward Aliaksei Protas takes home the award.

Out West, NHL Draft eligible forward Seth Jarvis from the Portland Winterhawks is this year’s Sportsmanlike Player of the Year.

Tigers award Rookie of the Year to three players

The Medicine Hat Tigers named Cole SillingerGarin Bjorklund and Dru Krebs co-winners of this year’s Rookie of the Year Award.

Hitmen name Defenseman of the Year

The Calgary Hitmen named defenseman Jett Woo this year’s Defenseman of the Year. Woo likely won’t be returning to the Hitmen next season as he’s eligible to turn pro in the Vancouver Canucks organization.

Hurricanes award Hardest Working Player

Logan Barlage has been named the Hardest Working Player with the Lethbridge Hurricanes for the 2019-20 season.

Raiders name Scholastic Player of the Year and Humanitarian of the Year

The Prince Albert Raiders named Nolan Allan and Landon Kosior co-winners of the team’s Scholastic Player of the Year award for 2019-20.

They also awarded graduating defenseman Jeremy Masella the team’s Humanitarian of the Year award.

Cooke re-signs in Romania

Jordon Cooke (149 GP, 2.54 GAA, 0.915 Save Percentage, 92-34-4-8 record with the Kelowna Rockets from 2010-14) has signed an extension with Gyergyoi HK Gheorghieni in Romania for the 2020-21 season. Last season, his first with the club, he posted a 22-15-0 record with a 1.61 GAA and .946 Save Percentage in 38 games.

Peters to coach in KHL

Former Spokane Chiefs coach Bill Peters has been named head coach of Avtomobilist in the KHL. Peters resigned from the Calgary Flames this season after allegations of inappropriate behaviour in previous roles arose during the season.
