Raiders finish handing out team awards

The Prince Albert Raiders handed out their final two team awards on Saturday, first naming Ilya Usau this year’s Rookie of the Year. The NHL draft-eligible prospect had 22 goals and 30 assists in 58 games this season in his first season with the Raiders.

The final team award the Raiders handed out was the Defenseman of the year. This year the Raiders presented the award to two players: Kaiden Guhle and Zack Hayes. Guhle potted 11 goals and 29 assists in 64 games this season, while Hayes registered seven goals and 16 assists in 60 games in 2019-20.

Tigers name Defenseman of the Year

Like the Raiders, the Medicine Hat Tigers also awarded their Defenseman of the Year award to two players: Cole Clayton and Parker Gavlas. Clayton notched two goals and 28 assists in 63 games while Gavlas finished slightly behind Clayton with five goals and 21 assists.

Hurricanes name Stringer Rookie of the Year

The Lethbridge Hurricanes have named Zack Stringer this season’s Rookie of the Year. He had 11 goals and 23 assists in 48 games this season. Last season, Stringer did play eight games and recorded a goal and three assists.

With the WHL Bantam Draft just around the corner, set to take place on April 22nd, the team here at DUBNetwork has come together to release our first-ever mock draft. The team used rankings compiled by Zach Moffat and DUBNetwork’s Scouting Division to play out the first round of the draft as if our writers were making the decisions. In the least shocking news of the draft, the Regina Pats selected Connor Bedard, who has been given exceptional status to play in the WHL in 2020-21.
