Gurney suspended for two games

Everett Silvertips forward Justyn Gurney was given a two-game suspension for this hit on Seattle’s Cade McNelly despite no penalty being called on the original play. He sat out the first game on Sunday vs. Spokane and will miss a rematch with Seattle on Valentine’s Day before being eligible to return on February 15th in a crucial game against Portland. This is Gurney’s second suspension this season.

Browne, Creta out for Cougars

Ethan Browne (illness) and Marco Creta (undisclosed) did not suit up for Prince George against Seattle on Sunday. Browne was a game-time decision on Saturday vs. Vancouver but ultimately played while Creta may have been injured on a big hit by forward Kaden Kohle although he stayed in the game afterward.

Alarie out for Warriors

Eric Alarie was not in the lineup for the second half of Moose Jaw’s back-to-back with Saskatoon after playing on Saturday, due to a lower-body injury. He joins defensemen Cayde Augustine, Daemon Hunt, Cole Jordan, and Carson Sass and forward Owen Hardy on the injured list.

Christiansen ties Silvertips franchise record

With his 17th goal of the season, defenseman Jake Christiansen tied Landon Oslanaski (72 GP, 17 G, 31 A with Everett in 2012-13) for the Silvertips record for most goals in a season by a defenseman in just his 26th game this season.

  • Saskatoon’s Nolan Kneen played in his 300th WHL game while Aidan Dela played in his 100th WHL game.
