Greig and McClennon loans denied

In the first known instance of WHL teams not allowing their players to head overseas, Ridly Greig and Connor McClennon were denied approval to head to Karlskrona of the Swedish 3rd-tier league. No formal announcement was made by either the Winnipeg ICE or the Brandon Wheat Kings regarding the denial of approval.

Benson heading overseas on loan from Oilers

Tyler Benson (190GP, 61G, 123A with Vancouver ’13-’18) has been loaned by the Edmonton Oilers to GC Kusnacht Lions of the SL in Switzerland. Last season with the Bakersfield Condors (AHL), Benson had nine goals and 27 assists in 47 games. He was also called up to the Oilers for seven games, netting an assist.

Knackstedt extended by Dresdner Eislowen

Jordan Knackstedt (268GP, 67G, 117A with Red Deer and Moose Jaw ’04-’08) has signed for a third season with Dresdner Eislowen of the DEL2 in Germany. Last season Knackstedt scored 20 goals and added 47 assists in 51 games. The Saskatoon, SK native has won championships in Italy and Denmark over his 13 professional seasons.

Harlacher resigns with EHC Bulach

Edson Harlacher (71GP, 0G, 9A with Kamloops ’13-’14) has resigned with EHC Bulach of the MSL in Switzerland. This is his eighth professional season in Switzerland and spent last season split between EHC Bulach, HC La Chaux-de-Fonds, and EHC Kloten. Over 35 games he had one goal and six assists.

Hockey world morns the passing of Dylan Ashe

An incident involving a vehicle rollover claimed the life of 18-year-old Dylan Ashe. This season it was expected Ashe would make a push to be on the roster of the Lethbridge Hurricanes. He had been playing for the Melfort Mustangs last season. DUBNetwork would like to express its condolences to Dylan’s family and friends as well as the greater hockey community.
