Cozens injured at Sabres Development Camp

The Buffalo Sabres announced that top prospect Dylan Cozens (68 GP, 34 G, 50 A with the Lethbridge Hurricanes last season) suffered a left thumb injury at Sabres development camp on Saturday. Cozens is set to undergo a procedure today and a timeline for his recovery will be provided later this week. One would think Cozens should be full steam ahead for the Hurricanes season if he doesn’t make the Sabres out of their training camp.

Hitmen announce the radio broadcast schedule

The Calgary Hitmen have released their broadcast schedule for the 2019-20 season which includes 49 games that can be heard on Sportsnet 960 and the remaining games will be available on the Sportsnet 960 website. The broadcast will once again include Brad Curle and Jeff Hollick providing commentary.

Keystone Centre to host Stanley Cup

The Keystone Centre, home of the WHL’s Brandon Wheat Kings, will play host to the Stanley Cup when Joel Edmundson (190 GP, 15 G, 53 A) returns to his hometown of Brandon on Monday. Edmundson was a part of the St. Louis Blues team that defeated the Boston Bruins in the Stanley Cup Final.

Sutter joins Ducks as an advisor to the coaching staff

The Anaheim Ducks have hired Darryl Sutter (69 GP, 34 G, 48 A with the WCHL’s Lethbridge Broncos) to be an advisor to the team’s coaching staff which is being led by Dallas Eakins.

Gillies re-signs with Riga

Forward Colton Gillies (195 GP, 44 G, 47 A with the Saskatoon Blades) is returning for his fourth season with Dinamo Riga of the KHL. Last season with Dinamo he had one goal and four assists in 35 games.

Westgard commits to SFU

Forward Ty Westgard (28 GP, 1 G, 3 A with the Victoria Royals, Portland Winterhawks and Everett Silvertips) has committed to Simon Fraser University in BC for the 2019-20 season.
