Blazers send Luke Zazula to Americans

The Kamloops Blazers have traded defenseman Luke Zazula to the Tri-City Americans for a second and third-round pick in the 2021 WHL Bantam Draft. In his fourth season with the Blazers, Zazula has eight goals and 42 assists in 168 games. This year, he has a goal and an assist in 16 games.

Ducks sign Warriors forward Tracey to an entry-level contract

Moose Jaw Warriors forward Brayden Tracey has signed his entry-level contract with the NHL’s Anaheim Ducks. Selected in the first round of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft by the Ducks, Tracey has 10 goals and 12 assists in 13 games with Moose Jaw this season. With Tracey signed, there are no longer any first-round picks from the WHL waiting to be signed to their entry-level contracts. There are 17 total WHLers from the 2019 NHL Entry Draft who have not yet signed their entry-level contracts.

Brinkman and Søgaard named to Danish World Junior roster

Medicine Hat Tigers forward Jonathan Brinkman and goaltender Mads Søgaard have been named to the Danish roster for the 2020 World Junior Division 1 Group A tournament in Belarus. Both players will leave the Tigers following Saturday’s Teddy Bear Toss game against the Saskatoon Blades for the tournament which starts on December 9th. This is Brinkman’s second year on the Danish junior team while Søgaard is appearing for the third straight year.

Protas and Usau headed to camp with Belarus 

Prince Albert Raiders forwards Aliaksei Protas and Ilya Usau has been invited to try-out with host Belarus for the 2020 World Junior Division 1 Group A tournament. Both players have previously represented Belarus internationally so they seem like good bets to make the team.

Memorial Cup Ticket Packages announced

Tickets for the 2020 Memorial Cup in Kelowna, B.C. will go on sale in one week to the general public and we now know how much tickets will cost you. To attend all eight (possibly nine depending on tiebreaker) will set you back $624.75 which averages out to around 70-80 dollars per game.

ICE release Danis and Prosofsky from the active roster

The Winnipeg ICE have released 2002-born forward Logan Danis and 2003-born defenseman Karter Prosofsky from the active roster. Danis had played 15 games this season with the ICE and had one goal and two assists. He’s expected to join the MJHL’s Winnipeg Blues. Prosofsky will be returning to the Rick Hockey Academy where he’s already played two games this season and scored one goal. With the ICE, he played nine games and recorded an assist. Both players will remain on the ICE’s protected list.

Giants release Draffin from the active roster

According to a report from Province columnist Steve Ewen, the Vancouver Giants have released defenseman Nic Draffin from the active roster. Draffin had been in a weird situation this year playing mostly as a forward in the 17 games he suited up for the WHL club. DubNetwork’s Stephen Hawco has learned the Giants will keep Draffin on their protected list. It’s not known where he’ll report as the Calgary Mustangs, who he played 35 games for last season, are no longer an active club in the AJHL.

Dubinsky returns from an upper-body injury

Listed on Tuesday’s Weekly Report with an upper-body injury, Cole Dubinsky returned to the Regina Pats lineup on Wednesday night. He had not played since November 19th against the Swift Current Broncos.

Rebels and WHL release joint statement on allegations made on social media

The Red Deer Rebels have released a statement in response to a tweet from former NHL player Dan Carcillo pictured above.

The statement reads:

“Brent Sutter – Owner, Governor, President, General Manager and Head Coach of the Red Deer Rebels – and the Western Hockey League, take matters of this nature very seriously. The Red Deer Rebels Hockey Club have reviewed the photograph shared on social media and have indicated to the WHL they do not believe any individuals depicted in the photograph are former members of the Red Deer Rebels. The WHL is committed to providing a safe and positive environment for all WHL players. The WHL has a zero tolerance policy on all forms of abuse, bullying, harassment and hazing. The policy applies to all individuals associated directly or indirectly with the operation of a member Club or the League.”

CHL Weekly Rankings announced

Everett has dropped one spot in the CHL’s Weekly Rankings to the #4 spot. Prince Albert has dropped to the #6 spot and the Edmonton Oil Kings have fallen out of the rankings completely to honourable mention status. The Portland Winterhawks have climbed into the rankings in the #9 spot.

Former Spokane Chiefs head coach Bill Peters releases letter in response to recent racist allegations

Former Spokane Chiefs head coach Bill Peters has released a letter he sent to Calgary Flames General Manager Brad Treliving in response to recent allegations of racist language use while he was the head coach of the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs. It’s important to note there are currently no allegations stemming from Peters’ time with the Chiefs.

Guhle scores first NHL goal

Brendan Guhle (233 GP, 30 G, 73 A with the Prince Albert Raiders and Prince George Cougars) scored his first NHL goal on Wednesday night. Drafted in the second round of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, by the Buffalo Sabres has played 44 games in the NHL with the Sabres and Ducks.
