On Wednesday, the Kamloops Blazers named their leadership group for the 2020-21 WHL season. Calgary Flames prospect, 2001-born forward Connor Zary (188GP, 73G, 109A) will wear the ‘C’ and will be joined by assistant captains 2000-born defenseman Montana Onyebuchi (237GP, 17G, 46A with Everett and Kamloops), 2000-born forward Orrin Centazzo (243GP, 77G, 90A with Everett and Kamloops), 2001-born defenseman Tampa Bay Lightning prospect Quinn Schmiemann (121GP, 10G, 55A), and 2003-born forward Logan Stankoven (66GP, 29G, 20A).

The Prince George Cougars named their leadership group on Wednesday afternoon. Wearing the captain’s ‘C’ will be 2000-born defenseman Jack Sander (181GP, 8G, 30A). Joining him as alternate captains are 2001-born forwards Connor Bowie (136GP, 17G, 14A), Ethan Browne (132GP, 15G, 47A with Everett and Prince George), and Jonny Hooker (158GP, 20G, 14A with Brandon and Prince George), and 2001-born defenseman Majid Kaddoura (101GP, 6G, 10A with Saskatoon and Prince George).

Brandon Wheat Kings 2004-born forward Nate Danielson scored his first WHL goal at 12:11 of the second period to make the score 6-1, in an 8-2 Wheat Kings win over the Moose Jaw Warriors. Red Deer, AB native Danielson was selected in the first round of the 2019 WHL draft. This was his seventh WHL game.

Brandon Wheat Kings 2003-born defenceman Logen Hammett scored his first WHL goal at 13:08 of the second period in an 8-2 Wheat Kings win over the Moose Jaw Warriors. Hammett’s goal made it 7-1. The Wheat Kings took Hammett in the fifth round of the 2018 WHL Draft. This was his fourth WHL game.

Defenseman Ryan Button (264GP, 16G, 97A with Prince Albert and Seattle ’07-’11) has signed a contract extension with Grizzlys Wolfsburg of the DEL. Button has played seven seasons in the DEL, the last two with Wolfsburg. In 22 games this season, Button scored one goal and added eight assists. He won a DEL championship in 2017-18 as a member of EHC Munchen. Button is a former third-round 2013 NHL draft pick of the Boston Bruins.

Kamloops Blazers 2019 fourth-round draft pick Cameron Johnson has been added to the Chilliwack Chiefs roster for the upcoming BCHL season. Johnson will be an affiliate player as he was loaned from the Langley Rivermen. Johnson has already committed to Harvard University for the 2023-24 season.
