Blazers sign Hammell 

The Kamloops Blazers signed 2020 first-round WHL Bantam Draft Pick Kaden Hammell to his WHL Standard Player Agreement. Our Jordan Bremner has the details here. Check out his DUBNetwork Scouting Profile here. 

Rebels sign Bawa

The Red Deer Rebels have signed Arjun Bawa, son of former WHLer Robin Bawa (307 GP, 118 G, 170 A with the Kamloops Junior Oilers/Blazers from 1982-1987). Our Paul Figler has the full details here. 

Broncos sign Burzynski

The Swift Current Broncos have signed 2005-born defenseman Grayson Burzynski to a WHL Standard Player Agreement. The second-round pick of the Broncos led the Winnipeg Bantam AAA league among defenseman with 58 points and finished tied for first in goals with fellow Broncos prospect Liam Saxberg.

Hitmen sign Orr to WHL Standard Player Agreement 

The first player to sign from this year’s WHL U.S. Prospects Draft is defenseman Briggs Orr who was selected in the second round, 34th overall. Playing for the San Jose Jr. Sharks Bantam AAA team, Orr had five goals and nine assists in 54 games.

Lauer named WHL Coach of the Year

Edmonton Oil Kings head coach Brad Lauer has been named this year’s WHL Coach of the Year. Lauer’s Oil Kings finished atop the Central Divison standings for the second time in his second season with the club finishing with a 42-12-6-4 record.

Royals name Scholastic Player of the Year

The Victoria Royals announced that Alex Bolshakov has been named this year’s winner of the Scholastic Player of the Year Award.

Cougars, Bardown hockey team up to support fight against COVID-19

The Prince George Cougars have teamed up with BarDown hockey to sell new team merchandise with full proceeds going to support the St. Vincent de Paul Society in Prince George which helps provide support for the vulnerable population in the city.

Kozun named Canada West Male Athlete of the Year

Taran Kozun (135 GP, 2.73 GAA, .912 Save Percentage with the Kamloops Blazers and Seattle Thunderbirds from 2011-15) was named the Canada West Male Athlete of the Year on Thursday. A member of the University of Saskatchewan Huskies, he posted a 17-3-2-0 record in 22 games with a 1.87 GAA and .931 save percentage en route to a Canada West Championship.

Bartosak, Cerveny sign with Pelicans Lahti

Patrik Bartosak (145 GP, 2.59 GAA, 0.927 Save Percentage 80-50-6 record with the Red Deer Rebels from 2011-2014 ) and Rudolf Cerveny (116 GP, 16 G, 24 A with the Regina Pats from 2007-2009) have both signed with Pelicans Lahti in Finland for the 2020-21 season.
