Blades sign Bocharov

The Saskatoon Blades signed defenseman Pasha Bocharov to a WHL Education Contract. An eighth-round pick of the Blades in the 2019 WHL Bantam Draft, Bocharov had 13 goals and nine assists in 56 games with Mount St. Charles Academy’s U15 team.

Silvertips sign Hemmerling

The Everett Silvertips signed forward Ben Hemmerling to his WHL Education Contract on Thursday. Hemmerling was a third-round pick of the Silvertips in 2019. This year he scored 19 goals and 44 assists in 34 games with the Northern Alberta Elite 15s.

Blades announce team awards

The Saskatoon Blades announced their team awards on Thursday

  • Chase Wouters won the Hardest Working Player Award and Community Minded Award.
  • Scott Walford won the Best Defenseman Award
  • Tristen Robins won the Best Defensive Forward Award, Most Gentlemanly, Best Forward and MVP.
  • Colton Dach was named Rookie of the Year.
  • Nolan Kneen was named the Hardest Hitter.
  • Aidan De La Gorgendiere was named Most Improved Player.
  • Jayden Wiens captured the Academic Award.
  • Riley McKay won the Fan’s Choice Award.

Cougars check-in with more awards

The Prince George Cougars checked in on Thursday with a few more awards. Netminder Taylor Gauthier is this year’s Three Stars Award winner.

Josh Maser has been named the Offensive Player of the Year award winner.

Defenseman Cole Moberg has been named the Best Defensive Player of the Year for Prince George.

Niedermayer commits to Vees

2019 first-round pick of the Vancouver Giants Josh Niedermayer has decided not to go the WHL route at this time, instead committing to the Penticton Vees of the BCHL where he’ll get to play with Jackson Niedermayer. 

Walter commits to Trinity Western University

Travis Walton (141 GP, 9 G, 9 A with the Kamloops from 2016-19) has committed to Trinity Western University where he will play with the Spartans starting in the 2020-21 season.

Traber signs in Lugano

Tim Traber (279 GP, 23 G, 32 A with the Chilliwack Bruins, Victoria Royals and Vancouver Giants from 2009-14) has signed with Lugano in Switzerland for the 2020-21 season. In 2019-20 he scored one goal and added two assists in 46 games with Lausanne.
