Moose Jaw adds Baco and Rysavy

The Moose Jaw Warriors announced the signing of 2003-born forwards Robert Baco and Martin Rysavy on Tuesday.

Rysavy, who’s from Prerov, CZE, was Moose Jaw’s first pick, sixth overall, in this year’s CHL Import Draft. He had nine points in 19 games with HC Prerov of Chance Liga, which is the second-highest level of pro hockey in the Czech Republic.

Baco hails from Kosice, SVK, and posted six points in nine games with HC Karlovy Vary U20 in 2020-21. He also had two points in nine games on loan to SK Kadan of Chance Liga. Baco was selected 50th overall by the Warriors in the 2021 CHL Import Draft.

Descheneau leaves Brynäs IF

Forward Jaedon Descheneau (111 goals, 161 assists in 265 games with Kootenay from 2011-16) has left Brynäs IF of the Swedish Hockey League after two seasons.

The 26-year-old from Leduc, AB had 18 goals and 50 points in 98 games with Brynäs.

Doyle named Canucks president of business operations

The Vancouver Canucks announced the appointment of Michael Doyle (5.96 goals-against-average and an .835 save percentage in 61 games with Victoria from 1985-87) as their president of business operations on Tuesday.

The 53-year-old from North Vancouver, BC has worked in a senior leadership role for Canucks Sports and Entertainment for the past decade and has served as the Canucks’ alternate governor since 2018.

Blidstrand inks an extension with Väsby IK

Defenseman Ricard Blidstrand (eight goals, 35 assists in 132 games with Regina and Prince George from 2010-12) has signed an extension with Väsby IK of HockeyEttan, which is the third tier of pro hockey in Sweden.

Blidstrand, 29, had six points in 48 games with Väsby IK in 2020-21.

Pilon fired by SJHL’s Weyburn Red Wings

The Weyburn Red Wings of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League announced the firing off general manager and head coach Rich Pilon (17 goals, 55 assists in 139 games with Prince Albert from 1987-88) on Tuesday.

Pilon, 53, served as GM and head coach of the Red Wings over the last two seasons. He ends his tenure in Weyburn with a 20-38-3-2 record.
