Buchberger to be honoured by Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame

Tri-City Americans head coach Kelly Buchberger (123 GP, 26 G, 39 A with the Moose Jaw Warriors from 1984-86) will be inducted into the Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame as part of the class of 2020. Joining him in this year’s class is Nick Schultz (189 GP, 33 G, 81 A with the Prince Albert Raiders from 1998-2001).

U-18 Championships could be canceled due to COVID-19

In an interview with Swiss media, Rene Fasel, president of the International Ice Hockey Federation, warns that all U-18 tournaments could be canceled this year due to the outbreak of COVID-19 (commonly known as coronavirus). He says a decision will be made on the status of the events in the next couple of weeks.

Kisio honoured by Hitmen 

The Calgary Hitmen inducted Kelly Kisio into their “Forever a Hitmen” program on Sunday. Kisio played two seasons in the WHL  from 1978-1980 with the Calgary Wranglers scoring 125 goals and adding 134 assists in 141 games. He would return to the WHL in 1998 as general manager of the Calgary Hitmen. He worked with the Hitmen in various roles including Head Coach and President of Hockey Operations until departing after the 2015-16 season for a scouting job with the NHL’s Vegas Golden Knights.

Myers plays 700th NHL game

Tyler Myers (191 GP, 17 G, 60 A with the Kelowna Rockets from 2005-09) played in his 700th NHL game on Sunday. Drafted in the first round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft by the Buffalo Sabres, Myers has also played for the Winnipeg Jets and is currently with the Vancouver Canucks.
