Chara signs with Capitals

Zdeno Chara (49GP, 3G, 19A with Prince George ’96-’97) has signed a one-year contract with the Washington Capitals. Chara was a third round draift pick of the New York Islanders in 1996 and has since played 23 NHL seasons. Over those 23 seasons, Chara has played in 1553 games, scored 205 goals and added 451 assists. The 6-foot-9 resident of Trencin, Slovakia has a Stanley Cup ring (2011, Boston Bruins) as well as a Mark Messier Leadership Trophy and a Norris Trophy as the NHL’s most valuable defenseman.

Marcin Kolusz (64GP, 6G, 12A with Vancouver ’03-04) has been released from his contract with Vaasen Sport of Liiga. Kolusz had spent the previous 11 seasons playing in Poland’s top professional league. He has also won three Polish Championships with three different teams.
Harrison joins HC Gherdeina
Ryan Harrison (325GP, 79G, 146A with Prince Albert, Medicine Hat, and Everett ‘097-’13) has joined HC Gherdeina of the AlpsHL. Harrison spent last season with DVTK Jegesmedvek of Slovakia’s top professional league registering eight goals and nine assists over 53 games. Harrison won back-to-back Kelly Cup Championships (ECHL) as a member of the Colorado Eagles in 2016-17 and 2-17-18.
