Alexander out for the season

Edmonton Oil Kings defenseman Jacson Alexander will be out for the rest of the season after opting to undergo season-ending surgery. Alexander suffered an upper-body injury in practice towards the end of January. He had played just 13 games this season and notched a goal and five assists.

Thurston gets two-game suspension

Lethbridge Hurricanes defenseman Trevor Thurston has been given a two-game suspension for this hit on Red Deer’s Cam Hausinger. Thurston will be out on Saturday vs. Prince Albert and Sunday against Calgary. He will be eligible to return on February 14th against Winnipeg. This is Thurston’s second suspension this season as he missed four games earlier this season for a knee-on-knee hit while a member of the Kamloops Blazers.

The Vancouver Giants have unveiled the jerseys they will be wearing on Saturday against the Prince George Cougars for the annual WHL Suits Up to Promote Organ Donation game at Langley Events Centre.

Americans release jerseys for 15th annual breast cancer awareness game

The Tri-City Americans will be hosting their 15th annual Breast Cancer Awareness night on February 28th and they’ve revealed the jerseys they will be wearing when they suit up. They will take on the Portland Winterhawks at Toyota Center that night.

Harkins scores first NHL goal

Jansen Harkins (275 GP, 75 G, 167 A with the Prince George Cougars from 2012-17) scored his first NHL goal with the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday. Harkins was drafted by the Jets in the second round of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.

Benson makes NHL debut

Tyler Benson (190 GP, 61 G, 123 A with the Vancouver Giants from 2014-18) made his NHL debut with the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday night. The Oilers selected Benson in the second round of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.

True records first NHL point

Alexander True (169 GP, 45 G, 39 A with the Seattle Thunderbirds from 2014-17) tallied his first NHL point for the San Jose Sharks. True joined the Sharks as an undrafted free agent in 2018.

Bellows scores first NHL goal

Kieffer Bellows (56 GP, 41 G, 33 A with the Portland Winterhawks in the 2017-18 season) potted his first and second NHL goals with the New York Islanders. Bellows was a first-round pick of the Islanders in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.
