Edmonton Oil Kings defenseman Jacson Alexander will be out for the rest of the season after opting to undergo season-ending surgery. Alexander suffered an upper-body injury in practice towards the end of January. He had played just 13 games this season and notched a goal and five assists.

Lethbridge Hurricanes defenseman Trevor Thurston has been given a two-game suspension for this hit on Red Deer’s Cam Hausinger. Thurston will be out on Saturday vs. Prince Albert and Sunday against Calgary. He will be eligible to return on February 14th against Winnipeg. This is Thurston’s second suspension this season as he missed four games earlier this season for a knee-on-knee hit while a member of the Kamloops Blazers.
