Daily Dose of the Dub: 3 WHL coaches join Hockey Canada U-17 teams, Tigers sign Boehm

Dyck, Marsh, O’Rourke join coaching staffs for World-U17 Hockey Challenge 

Hockey Canada has announced the coaching staffs for the annual World U-17 Challenge which will take place in November in Medicine Hat and Swift Current.

Vancouver Giants head coach Michael Dyck will be the Head Coach for Team Canada White at the tournament.  Dyck is coming off a run to the WHL Championship Series in his first year as Giants head coach and has previous coaching experience at this tournament having coached Team Pacific at the 2010 and 2012 tournaments.

Saskatoon Blades associate coach Ryan Marsh will join Dyck’s coaching staff as an assistant coach. Marsh joined the Blades this season after spending four seasons with the Edmonton Oil Kings as an assistant coach. This will be his second go-round at this tournament as he served as Team Canada Red’s assistant coach at the 2016 tournament.

Prince George Cougars associate coach Steve O’Rourke will serve on Martin Laperriere’s (Quebec/QMJHL) coaching staff as an assistant coach. O’Rourke has been with Prince George for three seasons. He has never coached at the international level but did serve as head coach of Team B.C. at the 2019 Canada Winter Games.

Tigers sign Boehm 

The Medicine Hat Tigers have announced the signing of 2019 second round pick Brayden Boehm. Boehm is the third player from the Tigers draft class to sign with the team joining Oasiz Weisblatt and Cayden Glover. Boehm played this season for Delta Hockey Academy’s Bantam Prep team and registered 16 goals and 24 assists in 30 games.

Warriors announce details for prospect camp

The Moose Jaw Warriors have announced the details for their 2019 prospect camp which will take place this weekend. The group is headlined by 2019 first round pick Denton Mateychuk and 2018 first round pick Eric Alarie. 2018 third round pick Corson Ceulemans, 2019 fifth round pick Carson Brisson and 2018 ninth round pick Trey Fechko are committed to NCAA universities and will not be attending the camp. Hurricanes president named head coach of Pronghorns

Lethbridge Hurricanes president Doug Paisley has joined the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns as head coach of the women’s hockey program. Paisley was previously involved with the Pronghorns in the 2005-06 season as an assistant coach of the women’s hockey program. He has spent the last five years as the president of the Hurricanes.

Kolesar sends Wolves to Calder Cup final 

The Chicago Wolves are off to the Calder Cup Final where they’ll take on the Charlotte Checkers after a 3-1 win over the San Diego Gulls. Keegan Kolesar (243 GP, 77 G, 90 A with the Seattle Thunderbirds) scored the game-winning goal to send the Wolves into the championship.
