WHL announces schedule changes in B.C. and Central Divisions

The WHL revised the schedule for the teams in the Central Division and the BC Division from April 22 to May 6. The resulting schedule changes due to positive COVID-19 test results this season means some teams will not hit the 24 game mark as originally planned.

In the Central Division the teams will finish with games played as follows:

  • Lethbridge Hurricanes – 24
  • Edmonton Oil Kings – 23
  • Medicine Hat Tigers – 23
  • Red Deer Rebels – 23
  • Calgary Hitmen – 21

While the BC Division will see their schedules reduced as follows:

  • Kamloops Blazers – 22
  • Kelowna Rockets – 16
  • Prince George Cougars – 22
  • Vancouver Giants – 22
  • Victoria Royals – 22

Thiessen scores first WHL goal

Brandon Wheat Kings 2001-born defenseman Rylan Thiessen scored his first WHL goal at 19:04 of the second period of the Wheat Kings 6-1 win over the Swift Current Broncos. Undrafted, Thiessen started his WHL career as a member of the Lethbridge Hurricanes before being dealt to the Wheat Kings on December 4th, 2019 for a sixth-round 2020 WHL Draft pick.

Herman leaves PSG Berani Zlin

Forward Jakub Herman (34GP, 3G, 3A with Moose Jaw ’09-’10) has departed PSG Berani Zlin of the Czech league following three seasons. In 2020-21, Herman scored four goals and had eight assists in an injury-shortened 28 game season. Herman was the 53rd overall pick at the 2009 CHL Import Draft by the Warriors.
