WHL postpones a pair of games

With the Tri-City Americans having team activities suspended, the WHL was forced to postpone their weekend games. The Saturday, April 24th game at Everett and the Sunday, April 25th game versus Spokane have been postponed.

More updates with regards to the schedule will be made at a later date.

Foote scores first NHL goal

Forward Nolan Foote (195GP, 83G, 88A with Kelowna ’16-’20) scored his first career NHL goal in just his second NHL game. The former first-round pick of the Tampa Bay Lightning scored the Devils fifth goal in a 7-6 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Smith signs extension with Ducs d’Angers

Defenseman Jerret Smith (281GP, 24G, 93A with Seattle ’12-’16) has signed a contract extension with Ducs d’Angers (France) for the 2021-22 season. This season was Smith’s first with the Ducs. He scored two goals and eight assists. Smith was the Thunderbirds captain for the 2015-16 season.

Zabransky signs with Jukurit Mikkelin

Defenseman Libor Zabransky (159GP, 8G, 41A with Kelowna, Saskatoon, Moose Jaw, and Kamloops ’17-’20) signed a two-year contract with Jukurit Mikkelin (Finland). This season with Karlovy Vary, Zabransky scored seven goals and seven assists in 51 games. Zabransky was a two-time CHL Import draft pick. Kelowna selected him 51st overall in 2017 and Saskatoon selected him 55th overall in 2019.

Lipon released from IK Oskarshamn

Forward JC Lipon (248GP, 61G, 127A with Kamloops ’09-’13) was one of numerous players that were released from the IK Oskarshamn roster. This season he played 37 games with the Dinamo Riga (KHL) collecting eight goals and 12 assists before ending the season with IK Oskarshamn (8GP, 2A). That transaction can be found here.

Magee joins the Rapid City Rush

Forward Brandon Magee (318GP, 113G, 151A with Chilliwack and Victoria ’09-’15) was added to the Rapid City Rush roster. He has not been playing in the 2020-21 season. His previous action was in 2019-20 when he played 18 games for Kunlun RedStar (KHL) collecting a pair of points (1G, 1A). He also played for KRS-BSU Beijing (VHL) skating in 33 games (14G, 14A).

MacPherson loaned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton

Defenseman Dylan MacPherson (181GP, 6G, 37A with Medicine Hat ’15-’19) has been loaned to the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins (AHL) by the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL). MacPherson has appeared in games for both teams already this season; 18 games with Wheeling (7A) and six games with Wiles-Barre (1A). That ECHL transaction can be found here.
