Zablocki traded to the Hurricanes

In a deal announced by Red Deer Rebels GM and Head Coach Brent Sutter after tonight’s hockey game, the team has traded Lane Zablocki to the Lethbridge Hurricanes.

Lane Zablocki was originally brought over to the Rebels in a deal with the Regina Pats on January 9th of last season. Since his arrival in Red Deer, Zablocki put up 28 goals and 20 assists in 62 games. He was drafted this past summer by the Detroit Red Wings in the 3rd round, 79th overall.

Josh Tarzwell

In exchange for Zablocki, Red Deer received Josh Tarzwell (who hails from Red Deer), a 2nd round selection in the 2019 WHL Bantam Draft, and a conditional 3rd round selection in the 2020 WHL Bantam draft.

Tarzwell has played in 65 WHL contests, scoring five goals and adding 14 assists. He was drafted 24th overall in the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft and is eligible for this year’s NHL Entry Draft. He has not been rated by NHL Central Scouting.

Tarzwell also represented Canada at the U17 championships in 2016-17. He played in five games and posted one assist.
