Daily Dose of the Dub: 3 stars of the night; MacEachern lands with Summerside

3 stars of the night:

  1. Dylan Cozens – three goals and an assist for the 2000-born Cozens as his Lethbridge Hurricanes blew past the Regina Pats 8-4. The last time he had this stat line was in Game 2 of Lethbridge’s first round series last year with the Red Deer Rebels. Jordy Bellerive also had four points and Calen Addison had three assists.
  2. Jake McGrew – two goals and an assist for the recently signed San Jose Sharks prospect. Spokane took out the Kootenay ICE 7-4 to get their first win this year. Eli Zummack and Luke Toporowski chipped in two points apiece.
  3. Boston Bilous – The Edmonton Oil Kings goalie did not have to do too much, but he still stopped all 15 shots he faced in his first career shutout, a 5-0 win over the Swift Current Broncos. Vince Loschiavo had two goals and an assist for Edmonton.

Honorable mentions:

After 22 shots in two games last weekend, Brett Leason had just one, but he still had three assists as his Prince Albert Raiders beat the Medicine Hat Tigers 5-3… Brandon Hagel had a goal and two assists for three points and the Red Deer Rebels edged the Calgary Hitmen 4-3… Matej Toman’s first WHL goal was the game-winner as the Prince George Cougars won again over the Kelowna Rockets 3-2… Liam Hughes stopped 31-of-32 as the visiting Seattle Thunderbirds remained perfect in 2018-19, beating the Vancouver Giants 3-1… Phillip Schultz also had his first WHL goal be the game-winner as he scored with 1:05 left to lead the Victoria Royals over the Kamloops Blazers 3-2… Nolan Yaremko and Kyle Olson scored for Tri-City in the shootout while only Cody Glass could find the net for the Portland Winterhawks and the Ams got the extra point 6-5… The game was Glass’ return to the Portland lineup and he had three assists.

Troubling moments:

Igor Merezhko was assessed a five-minute major and game misconduct for a check-from-behind on Austin Pratt in Lethbridge’s win.

Swift Current has just one goal in 2018-19. The lone marker was netted by Kaden Elder who has since been shipped out of Speedy Creek.
