Daily Dose of the Dub: Overtimes galore

Three stars of the night:

  1. Ty Kolle – The recently acquired forward has found new life in Lethbridge. He had a goal and two assists for three points as the Hurricanes blew by the Medicine Hat Tigers 8-3.
  2. Sean Montgomery – He had a goal and two assists in the first 24:15 of action as the Prince Albert Raiders flew out to a 5-0 lead. They would go on to beat the visiting Spokane Chiefs 8-2. The 12-1 start for the Raiders is the best in franchise history.
  3. Mark Kastelic – Two goals for the Calgary Hitmen center including the overtime winner as his team edged the Brandon Wheat Kings 4-3. Kastelic has 10 goals and seven assists for 17 points in his first 12 games.

Honorable mentions:

Tristin Langan had a goal and an assist and the Moose Jaw Warriors slipped by the Regina Pats 3-2… Oleg Zaytsev had a goal and two assists for three points and set up the overtime winner as Alexander Alexeyev provided the difference in Red Deer’s 4-3 OT win over the Kootenay ICE… Sasha Mutala had a goal and an assist with his marker being the overtime winner as the Tri-City Americans took their second in a row over the Seattle Thunderbirds 3-2… Reece Newkirk netted a goal and set up Brendan De Jong‘s overtime winner as the Portland Winterhawks swept their weekend home-and-home with the Vancouver Giants 2-1… Roman Basran stopped 27-of-28 Victoria Royals shots and the Kelowna Rockets flew past their B.C. rivals 5-1.

Troubling moments:

Everett’s Connor Dewar was handed a “TBD” suspension for his cross-check against the Brandon Wheat Kings on Friday night.
