Calgary Hitmen

Last Week – 2-2-0-0. The Hitmen extended their winning streak to 3 games with a 4-3 shootout win over Brandon. The streak ended with a 5-4 decision to Medicine Hat. They split a home-and-home weekend with Red Deer with the road team winning each game. The Hitmen scored five 3rd period goals to win 6-3 but the next night the Rebels won 7-2.

Andrei Grishakov (4 goals 1 assist), Matteo Gennaro (3 goals 2 assists) Brady Reagan (1 goal 4 assists) and Jakob Stukel (3 goals 2 assists) all had 5 point weeks.

This Week – 3 game East Division swing with stops in Moose Jaw, Brandon and Regina.

Playoff Position – Now own the 2nd Wild Card spot, 2 points ahead of the Blades with one game in hand. They are also 4 points behind the 3rd place Rebels but have 2 games in hand on them. They have 1 head-to-head meeting remaining with the Blades and Rebels.

Edmonton Oil Kings

Last Week – 0-4-0-0. A stretch of 6 straight road games ended with losses of 7-0 in Kamloops, 10-1 in Kelowna and 4-1 and 5-2 in Prince George. They were outscored 26-4 in the last 4 games and during their 6 game losing streak they have been outscored 35-9. The last 4 goals were scored by Trey Fix-Wolansky, who is tied for 5th in WHL rookie scoring, Tyler Robertson, Conner McDonald and Davis Koch, who leads the team with 61 points.

This Week – Home games against Kootenay and Swift Current.

Playoff Position – 13 points behind Calgary for the 2nd Wild Card spot.

Kootenay Ice

Last Week – 0-2-0-0. Dropped a 6-4 decision in Red Deer and returned home to lose 5-3 to Lethbridge.

Colton Kroeker and Cale Fleury each scored 2 goals while Vince Loschiavo had 4 assists.

This Week – The next 5 games will be away from home, this week they will visit Edmonton, Saskatoon, Prince Albert and Moose Jaw.

Playoff Position – A loss of a single point or a Hitmen point of any kind eliminates them from playoff contention.

Lethbridge Hurricanes

Last Week – 2-1-0-0. The Hurricanes started the week with a 3-1 loss to Moose Jaw then rebounded with a 4-3 win over Brandon and another win 5-3 in Kootenay.

Big weeks for Matt Alfaro (4 goals), Tyler Wong (2 goals 3 assists) and Brennan Mennel (5 assists).

This Week – It’s a 4 game road trip through the East Division as they visit Regina, Brandon, Prince Albert and Saskatoon.

Playoff Position – 2nd place in the Division, 6 points behind the Tigers with 1 game in hand. They will play a home and home in the last 2 games of the season.

Medicine Hat Tigers

Last Week – 2-1-0-0. Lost 6-3 to the Warriors and got back in the win column with a 5-4 victory in Calgary and on Tom Lysiak night they shutout Brandon 4-0.

Chad Butcher, who leads the team with 89 points, had 4 assists, Mason Shaw scored 3 goals and Steven Owre had 2 goals and 1 assist. The high scoring Tigers have only 2 shutouts this season, both from Michael Bullion in the last 2 weeks.

This Week – On the road for 3 games in the East Division against Prince Albert, Regina and Moose Jaw.

Playoff Position – 1st in the Division, 6 points ahead of the Hurricanes. Lethbridge has 1 game in hand and they play each other the final 2 games of the season.

Red Deer Rebels

Last Week – 3-1-0-0. The Rebels ended an 8 game losing slide with a 3-2 shootout win in Prince George. The weekend started with a 6-4 win over Kootenay, followed by a 6-3 loss to Calgary (they led 3-1 in the 3rd period) and a 7-2 win in Calgary.

Big weeks for Lane Zablocki (5 goals 2 assists), Austin Glover (3 goals 1 assist), Austin Pratt (3 goals 1 assist), Evan Polei (2 goals 4 assists) and Adam Musil (6 assists).

This Week – Just 1 game this week as they host Swift Current on Saturday.

Playoff Position – 3rd place in the Division, 4 points ahead of the Hitmen and Calgary has 2 games in hand. They play each other 1 more time this season.
