Another day, another Rebels WHL Bantam Draft pick signs

Yesterday it was Jhett Larson, today it is Talon Brigley’s turn.

The second-round draft pick (24th overall) from the 2020 WHL Bantam Draft has signed his WHL Standard Player Agreement with the Red Deer Rebels.

Assistant General Manager Shaun Sutter had this to say about Brigley on signing day, “Talon is a well-rounded forward who has a high compete level, thinks the game well making fast-twitch plays and has a good shot. He has the character, and layers to his game and skill set to be relied on in all situations while also being a player who is capable of driving the play.”

Brigley is a local product, growing up in Sylvan Lake, AB and played for the Red Deer Rebels in the Alberta Major Bantam (AAA) Hockey League. He scored 13 times and added 13 assists in 23 games this season. He added two goals and seven assists in nine playoff games.

Talon’s father Travis is a former NHLer, playing with the Calgary Flames and Colorado Avalanche in the late 1990s and early 2000s. He also won a WHL title with the Lethbridge Hurricanes and retired from hockey following a stint with the Bentley Generals of the Chinook Senior Men’s Hockey League.

Brigley is the second draft pick signed from this year’s Bantam draft class. Kalan Lind was the first. It is their third signing in the last seven days and adds to a talented pool of players that will be able to play full-time in the next few seasons.
