Trent Miner had his childhood dreams come true when the Colorado Avalanche took him with their seventh round pick 202nd overall, joining teammate Bowen Byram in the Avalanche organization and being the third of four WHL goalies to be selected along with Mads Sogaard (OTT), Roddy Ross (PHI) and Dustin Wolf (CGY).

The Brandon, Manitoba native was originally the Giants’ 20th overall pick in the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft out of the Brandon Wheat Kings Bantam AAA.

After joining the team full-time during the 2017-18 season, Miner had a breakout first complete season in the WHL, splitting time with David Tendeck who was a sixth round selection of Arizona in 2018, with a 24-5-1-1 record along with a 1.98 GAA, a .924 save percentage and 3 shutouts in 32 appearances.

Miner also appeared in six games during the Giants’ run to Game 7 overtime of the WHL Championship, going 4-2-0-0 with a 2.73 GAA, .885 save percentage and one shutout.

Since joining the WHL for the 2001-02 season, the Vancouver Giants have produced 32 draftees including five first round picks with the most recent being Miner’s teammate and fellow Avalanche prospect Bowen Byram going fourth overall on Day 1.
