Giants fight back to beat Royals 5-4

It was a back and forth game but the Giants were able to sneak out a 5-4 victory on Tuesday night. The big guns for the Giants stepped up tonight as Sourdif, Florchuck, and Nielsen combined for two goals and six assists. Drew Sim earned his first career WHL victory stopping 23 of 27 shots.

Continued pressure allows Giants to comeback

The Giants found themselves down 4-3 late in the third, but continued pressure allowed them to tie and win the game late. The Giants outshot Victoria 11-3 in the third period and kept the puck in the Royals zone. Nielsen scored his BC Divison leading fifth goal of the season to tie the game with less than four minutes left in regulation. Florchuck then scored his second of the season with less than two minutes left to take the lead. The Giants controlled play and held on for the 5-4 victory.

Hall delivers early

Adam Hall delivered for the Giants with a shorthanded goal in the first and then a powerplay goal in the third to tie the game at three. Hall was flying tonight and was rewarded. Secondary scoring is going to be crucial if the Giants want to continue to have success this season, and Hall is providing it early in the season. Expect more powerplay time for Hall as he continues to impress this season.

First career win for Sim

Sim was able to shake off the game versus Kamloops to backstop the Giants to victory tonight. He was not as busy as his counterpart Martin but made the big save when it counted. Sim is going to be a special player for the Giants, and this win should give him confidence down the stretch.

Three best Giants of the evening

Tristen Nielsen

Nielsen again delivered registering a goal and an assist tonight. He is now up to nine points in the division and looks to be on his way to another successful season. Nielsen has been the best Giant so far this season and was once again on his game tonight.

Justin Sourdif

Sourdif is known as more of a shooter, but his playmaking ability has really been on display this year. After his three assists tonight, he now leads the team with seven and is second in points behind Nielsen. Sourdif has really rounded out his game this year and has become that playmaker the Giants need to be successful.

Adam Hall:

With two goals tonight, Hall provided that depth scoring the Giants desperately need. Yes, the top players are on a tear so far, but having that depth scoring elevates this team to another level. Hall should get more opportunities throughout the year and can hopefully build on this impressive game.

Next game

The Giants now get set to play the Prince George Cougars tomorrow night at 7:00 PM. With Sim playing tonight, expect a start from Trent Miner as the Giants look to start the season 3-1.
