WHL Since The Trade

This is an in depth look at 15 of the trades made in the WHL during the 2016-17 season.

The approach was to look at trades involving active players to see how they have produced with their new teams.

Obviously some of the trades also involved draft picks and it’ll be years until the stats can be finalized.

 

November 8/16 – Lethbridge trades Brayden Burke to Moose Jaw for Ryan Bowen, 2017 2nd round pick & conditional 2019 3rd round pick.

Since the trade – Ryan Bowen 20 GP 4 goals 14 assists for 18 points. Brayden Burke 28 GP 11 goals 30 assists for 41 points.

 

November 18/16 – Prince Albert trades Brendan Guhle to Prince George for Max Martin, Kolby Johnson, 2018 1st round Bantam pick & 2019 3rd round Bantam pick.

Since the trade – Brendan Guhle 21 GP 9 goals 8 assists for 17 points, Max Martin 28 GP 2 goals 10 assists for 12 points, Kolby Johnson 19 GP 1 assist.

 

November 30/16 – Kelowna trades Jonathan Smart to Regina for James Hilsendager & Erik Gardiner.

Since the trade – James Hilsendager 21 GP 2 goals 7 assists for 9 points, Erik Gardiner 16 GP 2 goals 8 assists for 10 points, Jonathan Smart 20 GP 1 goal 14 assists for 15 points.

 

December 14/16 – Spokane trades Markson Bechtold & Evan Fiala to Saskatoon for Nolan Reid, Wyatt Sloboshan & 2017 3rd round Bantam pick.

Since the trade – Nolan Reid 15 GP 1 goal 5 assists for 6 points, Wyatt Sloboshan played 1 game with Spokane then traded to Regina, Markson Bechtold 3 GP 1 goal, Evan Fiala 14 GP 1 goal 2 assists for 3 points.

 

January 2/17 – Spokane trades Wyatt Sloboshan & 2017 3rd round Bantam pick to Regina for Rykr Cole & Riley Woods.

Since the trade – Rykr Cole 10 GP 4 assists, Riley Woods 10 GP 3 goals 5 assists for 8 points, Wyatt Sloboshan 9 GP 1 assist.

 

January 4/17 – Edmonton trades Aaron Irving & 2017 7th round Bantam pick to Everett for Brett Kemp, Graham Millar & 2018 1st round Bantam pick.

Since the trade – Aaron Irving 8 GP 2 assists, Brett Kemp 6 GP 5 assists, Graham Millar 7 GP 1 goal 3 assists for 4 points.

 

January 5/17 – Edmonton trades Lane Bauer & 2017 7th round Bantam pick to Kamloops for Conner McDonald, 2017 2nd round Bantam pick & 2018 5th round Bantam pick.

Since the trade – Conner McDonald 7 GP 2 goals 2 assists for 4 points, Lane Bauer 7 GP 1 goal 6 assists for 9 points.

 

January 5/17 – Moose Jaw trades Nikita Popugaev to Prince George for Yan Khomenko, Justin Almeida, 2017 5th round Bantam pick & 2018 2nd round Bantam pick.

Since the trade – Nikita Popugaev 8 GP 2 goals 6 assists for 8 points, Yan Khomenko 9 GP 1 goal 1 assist for 2 points, Justin Almeida 10 GP 2 assists.

 

January 8/17 – Calgary trades Carsen Twaryski & conditional 2018 3rd round Bantam pick to Kelowna for Jake Kryski.

Since the trade – Carsen Twarynski 6 GP 3 assists, Jake Kryski 8 GP 2 goals.

 

January 8/17 – Kootenay trades Zak Zborosky, Matt Alfaro & 2018 6th round Bantam pick to Lethbridge for Brett Davis, Colton Kroeker, 2018 2nd round Bantam pick & 2018 4th round Bantam pick.

Since the trade – Colton Kroeker 6 GP 2 goals 5 assists for 7 points, Brett Davis 6 GP 3 goals 2 assists for 5 points, Zak Zborosky 6 GP 3 goals 5 assists for 8 points, Matt Alfaro 1 GP 1 assist.

 

January 10/17 – Prince Albert trades Luke Coleman & 2018 4th round Bantam pick to Calgary for Jordy Stallard & 2017 7th round Bantam pick.

Since the trade – Jordy Stallard 8 GP 6 goals 4 assists for 10 points, Luke Coleman 7 GP 1 goal 2 assists for 3 points.

 

January 10/17 – Vancouver trades Rodovan Bondra to Prince George for Tyler Ho, Bartek Bison & 2018 3rd round Bantam pick.

Since the trade – Radovan Bondra 7 GP 4 goals 4 assists for 8 points, Tyler Ho 2 GP, Bartek Bison 0 GP.

 

January 10/17 – Red Deer trades Joshua Mahura, Jeff de Wit & 2019 3rd round Bantam pick to Regina for Lane Zablocki, Dawson Barteaux, 2017 or 2018 1st round Bantam pick & conditional 2020 3rd round Bantam pick.
