The First Day of the Rest of our Lives

Welcome to DubNetwork.ca!

First of all, thank you to everyone for their support over the past season. Our evolution from meager beginnings as a series of spreadsheets to what we’ve become with today’s launch is all thanks to you.

It has been quite a summer so far. If you are reading this, you probably know that Jesse and I have been busy planning our next step toward taking over the world — well, at least the world of junior hockey, and more specifically the WHL.

Why this and why now?

It is time to move forward with our collaboration and expand into more of a collective, and a movement to involve the great fans of “one of the world’s finest development leagues.” I hope our work can benefit the fans, the players, the teams and the league itself. We need to seize the opportunity, so the time is right for us to begin the next step in the journey.

We’ve grown the statistical side of the site as much as we can on our own. The league just doesn’t collect enough data for us to go a whole lot further than we do now. We have some ideas floating around, and if they come to fruition you’ll be the first to know. If any of you are interested in becoming a data collector for upcoming projects, please get in touch.

We’ve decided to bring in an editor and some writers so that you can get information that goes beyond what the league provides. There will be interviews, editorials, scouting reports and more. Thank you to Scott Sepich for agreeing to help us further this thing! Scott will play an essential role in what we want to do. His expertise is exactly what we need to help make this venture a success. There are a few contributors who will be introduced in the coming weeks. Additional writing positions will be available, so please get your resumes in if you’d like to write for us.

Another element of the new site is that we will be joining forces with DRAFTGEEK.CA. Brennen York and his team will be bringing you scouting reports, rankings and much more about the draft-eligible players from the WHL and beyond. Thank you to Brennen for putting his faith in our project and for believing that his goals coincide with ours. Brennen will be adding new talent evaluators as opportunities arise, so please contact him to join this exciting venture.

We have even more ideas in the vault and hope to unveil them in the coming months, so stay tuned for more things WHL.

I would like to thank all the supporters of WHL Stats, and those numbers aren’t going anywhere. There will be a link available on the site to access the data you’ve come to expect from us and the old link will redirect you to this new site. We will continue to provide historical and current stats and more! Please give us some time to iron out the kinks, and if you have any suggestions, questions, comments and/or concerns please feel free to e-mail me directly at p.figler@whlstats.ca.
