Warriors maintain a healthy bottom line

The Moose Jaw Warriors remain comfortably in the black despite posting a loss for the 2016-17 fiscal year.

The Warriors announced a loss of $463,566 for the year at their annual general meeting Wednesday afternoon. That loss was unsurprising after the club decided to invest $531,197 back into Mosaic Place in the form of light and sound upgrades. The club felt the new lights and the new sound system would add to the in-game experience for their fans.

When the facility upgrades were announced a year ago, the team said the timing was right because of their robust financial health.

Even with their profit loss, the Warriors have $1,081,545.01 in the bank and the franchise is as healthy as it has ever been.

The team also has $282,033.78 in its education fund used to fulfill the team’s commitment to their player’s post-secondary education after they graduate from the Western Hockey League.

The Warriors also made their $200,000 “multiplex pledge commitment.” They are in the sixth year of their 10-year pledge to help fund their new facility. To date they have contributed $1.7 million in pledge payments.

The Warriors also got a shot in the arm from their Booster Club which raised $257,487 last season. That is the second-most raised by the Boosters in a single season.
