Playoff History: Swift Current Broncos vs. Regina Pats

2017 Regina won 4-3 2nd Round, despite having 24 less regular season points, the Broncos took a three games to one lead early in this matchup but it was the Pats who would come out on top securing victories in games five, six and seven. Game four was a triple overtime thriller, but the game made the Broncos looked gassed for the remainder of the series. Regina dominated Swift Current in the final game winning 5-1, the series winning goal belonging to Filip Ahl. It came early in the first period and staked the Pats to a 2-0 lead before five minutes was gone in the game. The Pats would make it to the WHL Final where they would be defeated by the Seattle Thunderbirds in six games.

2015 Regina won 4-0 1st Round, not much you can say about a series that went four straight. That was unexpected as the teams had just an eight point gap between them after the conclusion of the regular season. All of the games were respectable in score, aside from the final game in which Regina won 4-0. Daniel Wapple earned the shutout for the Pats and Adam Brooks clinched the series with his shorthanded marker at 11:53 of the second period. The Pats would go down to the Brandon Wheat Kings 4-1 in the second round.

2008 Swift Current won 4-2 1st Round, despite trailing the division winning Pats by five points in the regular season, the two teams traded wins back and forth until Swift Current pulled away in games five and six. 44 goals were scored between the two teams in just six games. A game four double overtime win for the Broncos at home gave them the momentum they needed for victory. Geordie Wudrick scored the eventual series clinching goal at 7:17 of the first period. The Broncos were out to an early 3-0 lead. Swift Current would bow out to the Calgary Hitmen in the second round.

2007 Regina won 4-2 1st Round, the Pats had an 11 point advantage over the Broncos in the regular season. Despite the Broncos winning twice in Regina, the Pats would come out on top with wins in games one, three, four and six. Three of their wins came on the road in Swift Current. Brett Leffler had the overtime winner and series clincher on April Fool’s Day in 2007. The Pats would lose in four straight in the second round to the Medicine Hat Tigers.
